Joanna & Sergio

I was so grateful to be able to assist the wonderful and super talented Nicole Deanne for this next wedding. Joanna was already a beautiful girl with a beautiful bridal party. Nicole did Joanna’s hair in an elegant, loose side chignon. Each bridesmaid chose a different hair style to their liking. And for their makeup we stuck with golds and bronzes on each one. Total we had thirteen hair and makeup! It was a chilly, misty October day, but Lyndzee from EP Photography did a wonderful job keeping everyone fresh and dry! Congrats to the two of you!

Monique & Adam

Monique and Adam met in Paris, had their first date in Los Angeles, lived in Spain for a while and now reside in New York. Sounds like a dream! They decided to have a destination wedding where they had their first date, at The Huntley Hotel Penthouse in Santa Monica. Monique and I met back in January, 8 months before her wedding, for a trial consultation. Planning a wedding across the country takes some skill.  This was the most easy going bride I have EVER worked with. An absolute delight. She was given the name BrideCHILLA by her bridesmaids!

She has beautiful hair and a stunning face. She wanted her hair down with waves and her make up was soft with pinks and greys. Every detail of Monique and Adams wedding was perfection. There was a subtle theme of “travel.” She wore a custom made wedding dress for the ceremony and changed into a fabulous BCBG white cocktail dress for the reception. Thank you Monique for a wonderful experience! You were a dream to work with and I wish you and Adam many blessings in your new marriage!

My Best Friends Wedding, Cupcakes and Pedicures

We have all been friends since elementary school. Best friends. In high school, we spent our weekends talking about guys, making cupcakes and staying up way too late. Now that we have to be adults, our time together isn’t as frequent. But when we get together, we pick up where we all left off. It was Megan’s wedding and we all spent three days together, feeling 17 again. Not much has changed. Guy talk is now husband talk, we laughed until we cried and we ATE, knowing that our bridesmaids dresses were loose and flowy. Phew. It was a great weekend. Congrats to Megan and Shane and thank you for a weekend full of late nights, pedicures, way too much food and love. And cupcakes.

Melissa & Jamie (& Larry)

Melissa and Jamie both looked incredible, but Larry was the best dressed there. Larry is the couples french bull-dog that served as part of the bridal party, decked out out in a tuxedo and top hat. Yes. The couple met on a blide date. Her family is from Wisconsin and his is from Kansas but the two of them live in Hollywood. Melissa is a speech therapist and Jamie is film producer. They got married at the Verandas in Manhattan Beach and the day could not be more beautiful.

Melissa has the most beautiful, thick, rich auburn hair. We did it up in a classic do that had just enough volume on top. This went perfectly with her smokey brown eyes. Looks like they had a great night, best of luck to you both!!

The Other Carly & Ben

“Hi Carly, I’m Carlie. It’s nice to meet you” We both laughed. It wasnt until we met that I realized we couldn’t be more opposite in our looks. She was tiny and petite with long, straight dark brown hair. And I’m, well, tall with wild natural blond curly hair. Then when we she told me her soon to be husbands name was also Ben, we knew it was meant to be for me to be her wedding day stylist.

The other Carly and Ben met in Miami and both have their families back in Illinois. They got married in Sherman Oaks and almost everyone was from out-of-town. For her hair, Carly wanted something very soft, back away from her face. We had originally done a loose looking bun during the trial and for the wedding day, decided to make it a little more on the side. She has extremely thick, long hair so I had my hands full. She had a small hair pin that I added to the side of the bun. For her makeup I used greys and taupes to accentuate her hazel eyes. Her lips were a beautiful raspberry color that really tied everything together. I don’t think I will even find another Carly and Ben, congrats to you both!

Amanda & David

Two words. Beautiful couple. Seriously. Amanda is a teacher who competed in her first sprint triathlon just weeks before the wedding. You go girl! I was so thrilled to work with Amanda on her wedding day, well, because as you can see, she is gorgeous. She wanted to look very natural with only liner and shadow on her top lid and nothing underneath. She also wore false lashes to open up her eyes. We had originally done a trial with her hair down and a few weeks before the wedding she decided she wanted to wear it up. So we did a low side bun, with some soft pieces around her face. She found a super cute, funky headband from Anthropoligie and it tied everything together. Their wedding couldn’t have been more beautiful, every detail was perfect. Congrats to Amanda and her groom David!

Engagement Shoot- Crystal & Greg

I met Crystal several weeks ago and she is the sweetest! She wanted her hair and makeup done for her Engagement shoot in Orange County. Her makeup was natural and her hair soft and flowy. She is a natural beauty. She and Greg are getting married next month in Long Beach. Looking foward to the big day!

Engagement Shoot- Where Old Memories Meet New Ones

Engagement sessions are fun to be a part of. Especially when the bride is a good friend. Megan and I have grown up together and I am so honored to be her hair and makeup artist as well as a bridesmaid!

After getting pretty on beautiful afternoon, we headed down to Laguna Beach for her engagement shoot. We reminisced about how we did the same thing for our Senior High School pictures. And here we are 9 years later. Caitlin Cathey of Focus Photography, found this amazing little street in Laguna to take half the pictures and the rest of them she took on the sand of Table Rock Beach.

I am SO looking forward to spending Megan and Shanes wedding day next month with my closest childhood friends! Their will be lots of laughs, I assure you!

Kelly & Danny

Kelly works as a manager at Macys and Danny works as a writer for Jimmy Kimmel Live. A seriously cool couple. I met with Kelly twice before the wedding. Once for a  trial and another time to do her hair and makeup for her bachelorette night. I always enjoyed my time with her. Her demeanor is engaging and calm, even on her wedding day. She was excited to be a wife, after all, her and Danny were High School sweethearts.

For her hair, Kelly wanted a wavy, loose updo. I kept her hair parted on the side and pinned it all out of her face, giving it a “bumpy” look. Thank goodness for good hair tools because Kellys hair could not be more naturally straight! For her make up I did a soft taupe with hints of grey and purple on her eyes with false lashes and a natural peach on her lips. She looked glamorous and classy. I loved my time with these girls! Thank you for letting me be a part of your special day!

High School Prom

Some of my favorite memories from High School were winter formal and prom. Actually, the getting ready part was the most fun. All of us girls would gather at one of the houses and we would spend the whole day getting ready. I had the oppertunity to do hair and makeup for my cousin Victoria and her friends. All 4 girls knew exactally what they wanted and had pictures to show me.

Victoria has EXTREMELY long and thick beautiful hair which she chose to wear in a side ponytail with loose waves- like this picture of Molly Sims

I started out by curling all of her hair

Brianna wanted a look that kept her hair back from her face since she didnt have any bangs. She liked this picture of Jessica Alba

I also started out curling all of her hair and then teased the top of it, just a little bit, to give it a “piecey” look.

Meghan wanted her hair in a low, loose bun, like Naomi Watts

For their makeup I used purples and greys to give them a smokey eye look to go with their dresses.

Oh to be young and in High School again! Miss those prom days!

Midnight Cafe Shoot

I had the oppertunity to work with the amazing Amanda from In the Now Weddings for a photoshoot last week. It took place at Cooks Corner at 4:30 in the morning. Yes, really. And hair and makeup started at 2:30am. The decor was awesome and it set the tone for a outdoor vintage cafe perfectly. Many thank to everyone involved- Nick and Yanessa- the models who were real TROOPERS! It was sooo cold but Yanessa looked fierce in that fushia sweater and Nick in that gingham. Had lots of fun and the pictures turned out incredible!

Katherine & Matthew

When I first met Katherine, her identical twin sister was with her. They are extremely close, both call eachother “Sis” and laugh EXACTALY the same. They are so cute and sweet! Katherine and Matthew had a long engagement and most of it was long distance while she finished up Medical school in San Diego. For her hair, she wanted it half up and her makeup very natural. Her twin was married last summer, and the two of them took pictures together in their wedding dresses. What a cute idea! The day started out cloudy, but it ended up staying dry and they enjoyed a beautiful wedding at Villa del Sol d’Oro in Sierra Madre. Congrats to Katherine and Matthew on your marriage as well as your new Residency!

Jeanne & Tom

Jeanne was my first older bride, but she made my job very easy. She has beautiful skin and a million dollar smile. Not to mention some serious style! The thing that Jeanne kept expressing to me about the wedding day was that it was going to be FUN! And when I saw her dress, I knew what she meant. I used a combination of a cream and powder shadow on her top eye lid only, to make her blue eyes really stand out. She has a very cute hair cut, so I just added some volume and she was ready to have fun. She had her granddaughters as her bridesmaids and they were too adorable for words and excited about getting their hair and makeup done! Needless to say, I think they had a FUN night!

Kati & Stephen

Normally when you have a wedding party in the double digets, you can be a bit of a bridezilla on your wedding day. Not Kati. She was chill and composed the whole morning. And she had 10 bridesmaids. Seriously. They were sorority sisters. And I would not have been able to do everyone’s hair and makeup with out the help of my sister Taylor. Kati wanted a very classic, high updo that would stay out of her face all night. As for her makeup, I did a smokey eye with false lashes. Kati and Stephen got married on the roof of the Marriott in Marina Del Rey on the helicopter pad. So cool! Best of luck to the both of you!

Featured!!

I occasionally check out Jasmine Star’s website (one of the best photographers) and I noticed that she had posted about a wedding that was featured in Destination I Do wedding magazine. I was thrilled, since I got to work with Jasmine and do the hair and makeup for this wedding. Erma and Max’s wedding was one of my favorites. I’m sure you can see why!

Courtney & Casey

I knew I would like Courtney when she told me she had natural curly hair. My area of expertise! She is also a runner, so we had a lot in common and a lot to talk about. She wanted to wear it half up, but with bigger softer curls. So we started with her hair blown straight and I used a flat-iron to create the curls. Unfortunately it started to rain the day of her wedding, and we all know that rain and curls don’t go together! So we sprayed the heck out of her hair in hopes that it would stay and the rain would stopped. It did, and she looked beautiful. For her makeup, I used a natural peach for her cheeks and bronze and gold tones for her eyes. I also did her twin cousins/bridesmaids hair and makeup. I had a lot of fun with these girls getting ready. It’s so refreshing to meet great people that you feel like you could be friends with! It turned out to be a beautiful wedding day! Best wishes Courtney and Casey!

Emily & Chad

I grew up going to school with Emily since elementary school. Chad and Emily didn’t really know each other in HS, but connected later in life.  Unfortunately Emily was just getting over a bad cold, but she toughed it out to look beautiful and enjoyed their wedding. She wanted her hair up, sort of messy and big. This was a fun hair style because it was hard to make a mistake! For her makeup, I used greys and some pinks and a matte light pink for her lips. She looked beautiful and you would have never known she was sick!

Erma & Maxim

Erma contacted me from her home in Canada, many months in advance to secure me for her September wedding in Santa Monica. Since she wasnt going to be in town until the week of the wedding, she was not going to have time for a trial run. So I met Erma for the first time on her wedding day. She is an event coordinator and she was taking care of all the details of her own wedding. No wonder she didn’t have time for a trial. She had a very intimate wedding that consisted of only 15 friends and family. The wedding was at the very stylish Viceroy Hotel and Erma’s details were very chic and very cool. She also had Jasmine Star as her photographer, who is one of the best in the business! Fo her hair, Erma wanted a faux bob that was loose and undone looking. For her makeup, I used maroons that made her beautiful green eyes pop. Every detail of this wedding was perfect. I was very happy to be a part of Erma and Maxim’s day and that she trusted me with her hair and makeup!

Erin & Tony

This was the wedding of the year! I got to be the Matron of Honor in my cousin Erin’s wedding in September. Erin and I are just a year apart and extremely close. We call each other BCF- Best Cousins Forever. I was so honored to be her wedding and also do her hair and makeup. I did her hair in a low, loose bun, with soft waves framing her face. I found a really cool hair piece that I took off of a headband and pinned in Erins hair. It went with her dress perfectly. For her makeup I did her eyes smokey with greys and navy blues. She was such a beautiful bride and we all had the best night!! I love you BCF!
